On opening day of the gun season, I saw a shape moving across the edge of the opening I was hunting. It was about ten minutes before shooting light, so I couldn't determine whether it was a buck or a doe. It passed right under my bow stand from the previous weekend and paused at the twig where I had hung a scent wick. I had a hunch it might be a buck. He left the area. I gave him a couple doe bleat calls and about ten minutes later he returned, alert and looking for the doe. There was now plenty of light to make a clean shot.
